Missouri’s
courts and judicial selection methods -
The Missouri
Bar’s speakers’ bureau is part of the bar’s civic education efforts. Few
people understand the role of judges or Missouri’s nationally recognized
system for keeping corrosive politics and money out of our courts. Lawyers
throughout the state have volunteered to make short presentations, tailored to
meet your schedule needs about Missouri’s courts and judicial selection
methods. It’s a presentation that costs nothing, yet strengthens our
communities and system of government. The more that citizens know about our
state legal system, the better able they are to make informed decisions about
the selection of judges and other issues affecting our courts.

The Missouri Court Plan -
the
State of Missouri has a system in the larger counties for appointing Judges.
The Missouri Court Plan limits the varying winds of politics from the
established laws; also, avoid political contributions and political campaigns
as to those who would be our judges to avoid the appearance of "buying" an
election for judgeship. |
